So glad we found Lorna to look after our pup. She does a great job with the grooms but far more importantly for us, she’s great with our pooch and very caring.

It means that our dog is happy to go for her 6 weekly makeover.

It makes the world of difference.

How I make grooming work for your dog

This service is a good fit if you:
Have a small to medium dog of any age, including senior dogs or dogs new to grooming
Want a slower, gentler approach, especially for first-time or older dogs
Value your dog’s comfort and well-being over speed, trends, or a “perfect” finish
Are looking for a consistent groomer and want to build a long-term relationship
Understand that I may pause or stop a groom if your dog is becoming too stressed
Are happy to have a conversation before booking and value clear, honest communication
This service is not the right fit if you:
Are mainly focused on highly styled or show-style grooms
Want to book immediately without speaking to me first
Expect every groom to be completed regardless of how your dog is coping
Are looking for quick, high-volume appointments or a rushed groom
Prefer to move between groomers rather than work with one consistently

If your dog finds grooming stressful, or you’ve had a bad experience before, I’d love to talk it through.
No commitment, just a conversation about how I can help you.

Your dog’s grooming experience, step by step

First we’ll chat and meet

We’ll start with a phone call so I can learn about your dog, including their age, grooming history, comfort levels, and what you’re hoping for.

If it feels like a good fit, I’ll then invite you to a relaxed meet & treat at the salon, where your dog can explore, meet me, and enjoy some treats with no grooming involved.

Next, a calm, unhurried groom.

On the day of the groom, I’ll work at your dog’s pace using mindful, gentle handling.

Breaks are always an option, and I’ll adjust the groom based on how your dog is feeling in the moment.

Along the way, I’ll keep you informed.

I’ll be honest about how your dog is coping, and if it’s kinder to pause or stop a groom, I’ll talk that through with you. Your dog’s comfort always comes first.

And finally, we’ll look ahead.

After the appointment, I’ll share how your dog got on and, if helpful, suggest future grooming plans that best support them going forward.

Every dog deserves to feel safe at the groomer.

“Lorna put his well-being first and helped him to overcome his fears.”

Lorna goes above and beyond to make sure that our dog loves going to the groomers and he always comes out looking great.

After visiting previous salons which resulted in him fearing the groomers, having to be carried out of the car and being sick after each visit, Lorna worked so hard to make it a positive experience for him. He now gets so excited to see Lorna and runs to the door!

We can’t thank Lorna enough for putting his well-being first and helping him to overcome his fears.

Without her perseverance, we’d have a very matted and unhappy dog!”

Your questions about compassionate dog grooming, answered

dog 5
My dog finds grooming stressful, can you still help?
Yes, absolutely. A lot of the dogs I work with are a bit worried about grooming. I use mindful, gentle handling and always go at your dog’s pace.

If things feel like too much, I’ll happily pause or stop the groom and we’ll figure out the best way forward together.

Do you groom all dogs?
I work with small to medium breeds of all ages, including senior dogs and first-time grooms.

I don’t take on every dog, as it’s really important to me that the salon stays calm and that every dog feels as comfortable as possible.

What happens before our first appointment?
We’ll start with a friendly phone chat so I can get to know you and your dog and answer any questions.

If it feels like a good fit, I’ll invite you along for a relaxed meet-and-treat at the salon before we book a groom.

What if my dog can’t finish the groom?
That’s completely okay. Sometimes the kindest choice is to pause or stop a groom rather than push on.

Your dog’s wellbeing always comes first, and I’ll support you with next steps at a pace that feels right.

Can I book straight away?
I always like to have a quick chat first rather than booking straight in.

It helps make sure Paws in Harmony is the right place for your dog and means there are no surprises on the day.

I’d definitely recommend using Paws in Harmony.

Lorna is brilliant, friendly and professional. It’s really obvious she loves the animals she works with and she’s developed a loving relationship with my little Pops!

I’ve been using Paws in Harmony for a year now and wouldn’t go elsewhere!

My little dog is a cross between a Jack Russell and a miniature poodle (no, not a Yorkshire terrier 😂), so her fur is a bit funny and doesn’t suit some styles, but Lorna has helped find a style to suit. 💜
