A different kind of grooming experience

Many of the owners I work with come to me feeling worried or stuck. Their dog might shake at the salon door, hate being handled, or come home stressed after past grooming experiences.

Some are anxious about booking at all, unsure whether their dog will cope or if they’ll be asked to push through something that doesn’t feel right.

That’s where Paws in Harmony is different.

I take time to get to know you and your dog, work at their pace, and focus on making grooming feel safer and more predictable. If a dog needs a pause, a shorter visit, or time to settle before moving on, that’s not a problem; it’s part of the process.

Over time, many dogs start to feel more relaxed about coming in, and owners feel relieved knowing their dog is being listened to and respected. Instead of dreading grooming day, it becomes something everyone feels calmer and more confident about.

Dog grooming services

Maintenance grooms

A calm, low-stress bath, dry and comfort tidy, no trimming, no rushing. Just a clean, happy dog.

Regular full grooms

A complete groom built up gradually at your dog’s pace – always led by comfort, never by the clock.

Nail trim appointments

Short, calm and patient. Ideal for dogs who just need a quick tidy without the full works.

Settling-in sessions for all ages

Relaxed, no-pressure visits for dogs who need extra time to feel comfortable with the salon and with me. Ideal for nervous dogs, senior dogs, first-time grooms, or anyone who benefits from a slower, more supportive start.

Puppy settling-in sessions

Gentle sessions designed to help puppies feel safe and relaxed in the salon from the very beginning. We focus on building confidence through calm handling, short introductions to grooming equipment, lots of praise, gentle play, tasty treats, and plenty of reassurance.

“Lorna put his well-being first and helped him to overcome his fears.”

Lorna goes above and beyond to make sure that our dog loves going to the groomers and he always comes out looking great.

After visiting previous salons which resulted in him fearing the groomers, having to be carried out of the car and being sick after each visit, Lorna worked so hard to make it a positive experience for him. He now gets so excited to see Lorna and runs to the door!

We can’t thank Lorna enough for putting his well-being first and helping him to overcome his fears.

Without her perseverance, we’d have a very matted and unhappy dog!”

Hi, I’m Lorna, the groomer behind Paws in Harmony, offering mindful, holistic, low-stress dog grooming in Shifnal and the wider Telford area, Shropshire. I created Paws in Harmony because I saw too many dogs finding grooming overwhelming, and too many owners feeling guilty or worried about it. I believe grooming should feel calm, respectful and safe, not rushed or forced.

I’m a qualified Level 3 Groomer and a qualified Holistic Groomer, working from a home salon in Shifnal, Shropshire.

I take the time to build trust, work at each dog’s pace, and support owners with honesty and reassurance so grooming becomes something your dog feels comfortable with, and you can feel good about too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I stay and watch while my dog is groomed?
Yes, absolutely, and you’re actively encouraged to. Paws in Harmony is built around a partnership between the guardian and the dog.

You’re welcome to stay for all or part of the groom, bring your dog’s favourite treats or toy, and ask questions throughout. Many owners find it reassuring, and so do their dogs.

My dog has had bad experiences at groomers before. Can you still help?
This is exactly who Lorna works with most. If your dog shakes at the salon door, has been refused by other groomers, or comes home stressed and shut down, that’s not a behaviour problem; it’s a communication one.

Everything at Paws in Harmony is built around going at your dog’s pace, with no force and no rushing.

What is holistic grooming?
Holistic grooming looks at the whole dog, not just how they look at the end. It means paying attention to how your dog is feeling throughout the groom, adapting the session to what they need that day, and prioritising their emotional wellbeing alongside their physical care.

Lorna is a qualified Holistic Groomer as well as a qualified Level 3 Groomer.

Do you do breed-specific cuts?
Lorna adapts every groom to suit the individual dog rather than working to a breed template. The goal is a happy, comfortable dog, not a showpiece.

If you’d like to discuss a particular style, just ask, and Lorna will be honest about what’s realistic and right for your dog.

Where are you based, and do you cover my area?
Paws in Harmony is a home salon based in Shifnal, Shropshire, and serves dogs from across the surrounding area, including Telford, Lilleshall, Tong, Sheriffhales, Priorslee, Oakengates, Ironbridge and Newport
